PHANS Have Phish Phun
Author: Jason Oconnor
Phish is what music should sound like there was no music.
They are extremely creative, talented and fan friendly. Although it may open its sense, it is safe to say that Phish is like four friends playing music on stage (and he plays very well).
Therefore in 1998, Rolling Stone said: "Phish has become the largest group of the Nineties.
Phish is comprised of Trey Anastasio (guitar), Mike Gordon (bass), Jon Fishman (drums) and Page McConnell (keyboards).
They began their careers on the campus of the University Vermont in 1983, and after deduction of a break over one year, stayed together until 2004. Phish recently announced a tour for summer 2009.
Phish will play a hand-full of dates starting with three sold out shows at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia March 6th to 8th. And they continue to play shows throughout June
Rumor has Phish will join the line-up at Bonnaroo Festival somewhere between 11 and June 14
Even Phish fans, who go by the name of orphans, phriends, or Phamily Phishheads, claiming the studio failed to capture the emotion they bring to the stage.
Their supervisor, performing arts and worship, as hereinafter raised comparisons with the Grateful Dead.
Both groups have legions of loyal and dedicated fans who visit often with the band in the next town to town and show to show. They were "From touring with the group. Their performances will attract all sorts of people and things to buy and do. It was as if they were circuses or shows where a small town would be established at each location new show. Both groups would often play time many nights in a row at a given location.
Both groups had liberal policies when it comes to fans recording their concerts.
And the two bands concentrated on live performance rather than studio recordings and appearances trade. Attend a live or dead Phish show was like no other experience.
However, groups differ in their musical approach. The sound of the Grateful Dead has been centered in folk, rock and blues, while music Phish has followed a jazz aesthetic.
At that time, when recorded music is almost worthless They are also entitled to a show like no other.
Here are some highlights of past shows Phish:
Late 1990 in a attempt to increase public participation in their shows, Phish had the crowd verbally respond certain musical cues. For example, if Anastasio Play the Simpsons theme song, the audience shouted, "D'oh".
In 1992, Phish increased its collaboration with the audience with an experience called the "Big Ball Jam." Each member should initiate a large beach ball into the crowd and play a note each time his ball was struck by fans.
Other experiments followed, like "The Rotation Jam". In this jam, each member would switch instruments with the guy to his left. For selected "I like you", Gordon and Anastasio assume synchronized maneuvers on mini-trampolines.
For Halloween, 1993, Phish launched a tradition of playing an entire album by another band at a live show. The first album, selected by fans, was the Beatles' White Album. Phish has also made the Who's Quadrophenia, Loaded The Velvet Underground and Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon.
During a tour in 1995, Phish challenged their audience to two games of chess. Each show consisted of a pair of shots. Phish and their audience to separate the two games.
Phish first two days of the festival, called The Clifford Ball was held in a database decommissioned Air Force in Plattsburgh, New York. Between 70,000 and 80,000 people flocked to the city's own fortune Phish. The organizers have added an amusement park, restaurants, post office, playgrounds, arcades, and a movie theater property. Phish rode a flatbed truck through the campground and serenade the public throughout the night and early morning.
In 1997, during the festival called the Great Went, Phish and their audience have collaborated on a great work of art. At the end of the festival, the piece of mammoth Art has been burned to the ground.
To celebrate the new millennium, Phish had the largest paid attendance of a together on the globe. To conclude the festival, Phish played an extended seven and half hour set that began at midnight and ends at sunrise.
In a move reminiscent of the final performance of The Beatles, Phish performed seven songs at the top of the Ed Sullivan Theater during the Late Show with David Letterman.
Creative, funny, inventive and just stunning, Phish played the music the way it is supposed to be played and how it is supposed be heard … live.
